SPARK Notes Reignite Your Passion

Reignite Your Passion

02/22/2022

There is a huge difference in the quality of life you live when you are living a life that is meaningful and purposeful to you versus one that is not.

In this series "LLOYOT' you have been designing a life you will love.  First  you Reclaimed your life.  You did this by creating a vision board to define what lLLOYOTlooked like for you.

You Redefined what was possible by drafting a strategic plan to that would make it possible for you to break free of the limitations and restrictions that had imprisoned you for so long and instead successfully achieve those goals you clearly defined in your vision board.

Now for the last.  Reigniting your passion. To do this you must take responsibility of your own happiness then just start living your life as it was truly meant to be.

Writing your personal mission statement is a great way to achieve this.

GaVonne, did you say a mission statement? but aren't those for businesses?

Well Friend, you are correct.   Yes. Business usually do have mission statements.  Yet it doesn't matter if you are an entrepreneur, a student, or parent the same clarity and accountability it provides for them it will provide for you.

So is what exactly Is a Personal Mission Statement and how do I make one?

Well, A personal mission statement is one sentence that defines

  • your core values (what is really important to you)
  • the impact you want to make.  (this impact can be for a particular group of individuals, or it could just be you).
  • how you intend to make that impact happen
  • why it matters so much to you

Let's take a look at some examples of Personal Mission Statements from others

  • Walt Disney - to make people happy.
  • Oprah Winfrey - be a teacher. And to be known for inspiring my students to be more than they thought they could be.
  • GaVonne - I want to change lives by helping others realize that they can make the impossible possible.

Now let's draft yours.

  • What are your core values and beliefs.  What really matters to you. List 3-5
  • What do you want your life to stand for?  Basically what do you want to be remembered for?
  •

    • Who is your inspiration?  Who are you leaving your legacy for?
    • How will make this impact happen? (General statement)

If you are having trouble just fill in the blanks.

To use (your skill / talent) to (impact desired) for (who you wish to impact) with (how you will achieve this).

You donot have to use all parts, just make it personal and relevant.

Once you have a written mission statement, start using it! Frame it and put it where you see it often. Your P.M.S. is the compass you will use to guide you along your journey of living a life that is meaningful and purposeful to you.

Refer to it often to see if the choices you are making are aligned with living the life you desire.  If it does not then you know that particular choice will not add to your life's  fulfillment and purpose.
